THE annual Heathcote Community Smiles Day is back on at Barrack Reserve tomorrow from 11am to 2pm.

Event organisers aim to encourage the community to celebrate, smile and have fun, while getting to know local community and health services in the area.

“The event keeps growing each year,” said community house executive officer Vicki Forde.

“We have a huge variety of stalls and something for everyone.

“Snake Safe Victoria will be attending so everyone can learn about our amazing wildlife and have their photos taken.

“The Connected Circus will have activities for toddlers to teens and Heathcote Tennis Club and Heathcote Basketball Club will provide an opportunity for all to have a go.

“Heathcote Primary School and Community Bank Heathcote and District will have craft activities.

“The police and CFA will be there, and the SES will be demonstrating how they cut open a car with their new battery-operated equipment.

“Healthy Campaspe Lodden will have health related activities, and the Historical Society will have a stall.

“Mariah McCarthy and the children’s choir will be performing, and Heathcote Ukulele Group will have a ukulele circle with spare ukuleles for anyone who wants to try.

“The RFDS will be bringing their very popular flight simulator.

“There will be baby goats and stalls from the CWA Night Branch, Latrobe University, NBN, and Keep in Touch (KIT), Trinity Academy.”

Actor and anti-cancer advocate Samuel Johnson will be speaking about the Love Your Sister charity, and there will be an opportunity to donate towards cancer research.

“The community house will have a gardening demonstration, encouraging everyone to try growing their own food, especially zucchinis ready for next year’s Zucchini Festival,” said Ms Forde.

“All this and hundreds of prizes for the children. We look forward to seeing everyone there.”

Smiles Day ambassador Charlie Miller has been looking forward to the event all year.

“I hope everyone will support this amazing event,” he said.

“There is so much to see and do with free prizes, food and drink, and fun for everyone.”
