Barry secures a rare eagle
LAST Wednesday Forty Winks generously sponsored the stableford competition at the Mount Gambier Golf Club, which was attended by 41 lady golfers.
A feature of the day was an exciting eagle by long standing member Heather Barry (pictured right), who holed the shot for a 2 on the Par 4, 9th Hole, earning herself a very rare five points, collecting 10 balls for the shot.
No divisions were conducted on the day and coming in with the best score in the field was long hitting Janina Morrision (Handicap 20) with an exceptional score of 41 points – 5 under her handicap.
Janina’s score comprised a split of 22/19=41 points. The front nine proved the winning score with 41 off the stick, plus seven pars on her scorecard.
In second place with another great score was Sue Coulter (Handicap 28) with 46 off the stick giving Sue 22 points and another 18 points on the back nine = 40 points.
Sue recorded a birdie on the Par 3, 16th Hole earning fourt points, plus she registered seven three pointers on her card.
The handicapper will be catching up with these two women before they play again.
Third placing went to Hope Bliss (Handicap 20) with a split of 18/19=37 points. Hope played very consistent golf having 92 off the stick.
Nine balls were earned with good scores and went to Di Norman 37 points down to Bernie Jennings 35 points on a countback.
NTP went to Val Grubb on the Par 3, 8th Hole.
2nd shots into the Par 3, 6th Hole were won by A Grade – Leanne Hunt, B Grade – Heather Barry and C Grade – Gail Watson.

In blustery winds and showers 21 Ladies played in a stroke round.
The weather conditions were not a problem for Vicki Clark (Handicap 26) who had a terrific round of golf recording 47/46=93 off the stick – nett 67, six shots under her handicap. Five pars were registered in Vicki’s great score.
Second placing went to Sharyn Emetlis (Handicap 40) with a split of 56/54=110=nett 70, 3 shots under her Handicap.
Third placing, with one under her handicap, was Andrea Peglar (Handicap 23) with a very consistent game of 47/47=94=nett 71.
Andrea had a ‘purple patch’ having pars on the 8th, 9th and 10th holes.
