Emerging talent headed to Mount Gambier

THE Mount Gambier Pioneers are excited to announce the signing of guard Seth Garcia for the 2026 NBL1 South season, joining the Castec Rural Pioneers roster.

Garcia joins Mount Gambier following a solid year with the Bellarine Storm in the Big V Championship Men’s division, where he played 22 games and averaged 5.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 16.4 minutes per game.

He also shot 34.6% from the field, 29.3% from three, and 68.6% from the free throw line.

Garcia showed consistency throughout the 2025 season, contributing reliable minutes and demonstrating his ability to space the floor and compete defensively.

In 2024 Garcia was a part of Geelong United’s NBL1 roster, playing a handful of NBL1 South games across the season.

Garcia will have the opportunity to continue to develop his game at the NBL1 level.

Adding depth to the Pioneers men’s roster with his backcourt versatility,

Men’s Head Coach Pete Godfrey said Garcia joins the Pioneers following a solid Big V State Championship campaign, an exceptional reference from a well credentialed former SEABL/NBL1 coach, as well as some off-season workouts where he was able to assess Garcia going against legitimate semi-pro and pro players.

“A savvy pass-first point guard, keen to learn and grow, Seth will provide welcome support for Kane in the ‘one’ spot,” Godfrey said.

Garcia said he was eager to join the Pioneers community:
