Exciting signing for Pioneers
THE OneFortyOne Pioneers are pleased to announce the signing of Carla Pitman for the 2026 NBL1 South season.
Pitman arrives in Mount Gambier after valuable experience across the NBL1 and the WNBL.
Born 19 January 2004, Pitman has represented the Hornsby Spiders for five NBL1 East seasons and has been a member of the Sydney Flames in the WNBL for a season.
Across that WNBL season she featured in 22 games, averaging 6.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game, bringing professional level experience and competitiveness to the OneFortyOne Pioneers roster.
At 5’10 Pitman is a strong interior player known for her rebounding, physical defence and ability to finish around the rim — attributes that will add toughness and depth to the Pioneers’ frontcourt as they build toward the upcoming season.
Pitman is also known for her work ethic and consistency having already built a standout resume at only 21 years of age (see break out box).
Her blend of size, strength, and basketball IQ make her a versatile frontcourt option; capable of impacting both ends of the floor and providing leadership despite her young age.
Head coach Matt Sutton, who will again lead the OneFortyOne Pioneers in 2026, shares his excitement about Carla’s addition to their roster.
“Very excited for Carla to join our program, she plays hard and the right way, I can see her quickly becoming a fan favourite,” Sutton said. “Her game is well rounded, so she will add versatility on both ends.”
Pitman said she was thrilled to make the move to Mount Gambier and couldn’t wait to represent the Pioneer family in 2026.
“I’m very excited to be heading to Mt Gambier,” she said. I can’t wait to experience something completely different and get to know my new teammates. Mt Gambier has such a rich basketball history and I can’t wait to become part of it.”
