Gibbs goes back-to-back

THE Millicent Bowls Club held their Annual Veterans Singles earlier this month with the ladies grand final played between Heather Carthew and Joy Warren.

This was a very close game all through, with Heather on six shots and Joy on 14, but then Heather started to work her way back and by the 19th end was one shot up on Joy, who was then able to win the final end by scoring three shots and taking her score to the required winning toal of 21 shots and giving her the title of Ladies Veteran Singles Champion for 2025/26 season.

In the men’s games, the grand final came down to defending champion Rod Gibbs and Peter Scanlon.

This was also a great game, taking 21 ends to reach the target of 21 shots, with great bowling by both players as Rod successfully defended his title.
