Handicap Pairs champions decided

ON April 18, the Millicent Bowls Club held their Annual Handicap Pairs for ladies and men with all games were played over 15 ends.

The ladies grand final was played between, Lyn Scudds and Mary Campbell and Sarah Ross and Joy Warren.

With only one shot the difference, going into the first end, the game was neck and neck until the 9th end with Sarah Ross and Joy Warren only in front by their one shot handicap.

They were then able to break away, winning the final five of the last six ends taking out the honour of Ladies’ Handicap Pairs winners for season 2026/27.

In the Men’s Handicap Pairs, the grand final could not be played until April 22 due to player commitments.

The grand final, which was played over 15 ends, saw Peter Varcoe and Eddie Hann compete against Ian Ross and Peter Hyland with Peter Varcoe and Eddie Hann having to give Peter Hyland and Ian Ross a three shot start.

By the 4th end the score saw both teams sitting on nine shots each but then, the Hann/ Varcoe team on the 11th end, had a lead of eight shots and by the 15th end they were able to hold on to the lead thus winning the Men’s Handicap Pairs for Season 2026/27.
