Hoare dominates
THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition on November 8 in sunny and some windy conditions with an odd shower thrown in and the dedicated shooters were able to obtain some high scores and shoot offs were needed to ascertain some winners.
The opening event was the ‘The Gambier Hotel 50 Target Balltrap Championship’.
Andrew Hoare 45/50 won AA from Warren Lindner 43/50, Ken Atkin 42/50 won A from Tom Jenkins 38/50, Mick Little 41/50 took B from Wally Wombwell 39/51 and Robert Marcato 34/51 just edged out Garry Bowd 33/51 to win C.
The ‘Cabinets by Michael 25 Target Pointscore Championship’ was up next and this event was exceptionally well shot.
Andrew Hoare 73/75 just won AA from Tom Jenkins 72/75 , Steve Zadow 71/75 won A from Matthew Robinson 64/75, Declan Wright 73/75 just edged out Garry Allison 73/78 to win B and Matthew Jones 70/75 took out C grade from Robert Marcato 59/75.
The ‘Avis Car and Truck Rentals 25 Target Club Continental Championship’ was the last competition with shooters applying their accuracy skills in this trying event.
Andrew Hoare with perfect score of 32/32 won overall and won AA after a shootoff from Dougal Simson 31/32,Matthew Robinson 24/25 took A from Ken Atkin 22/25, Declan Wright 23/25 just won B from Dale Robertson 22/25 and Robert Marcato 24/25 won C grade from Jack Dyson 22/25.
The South East Autotrade Highgun over the three events was won by Andrew Hoare with a top score of 143/150.
The Black Crow Club saw John McIntyre, Garry Bowd and Steve Zadow added.
The Interclub Challenge between the South East Field and Game club and the Mount Gambier Gun Club was successfully won by the Mount Gambier Gun Club 1197 to Field and Game 1133 with Ken Atkin taking out the Highgun Award.
The Mount Gambier Gun Club has practice every Friday afternoon and the next competition will be held on Saturday, November 22 – the annual ZZ Championships.
