Kingston hosts opening round of 2026
A WONDERFUL turnout of 93 golfers came to Kingston, possibly because of the forecast, which was perfect, as part of the most recent South East Golf Veterans event.
The course condition was immaculate gaining much praise from the competitors.
Gordie Fleming from Robe took out Division 1, with 39 points ,from Willie Harris, Robe ,with 38, and then a new member, Peter Zacker, from Kingston got third on a countback with 36. In Divison 2 Clarrie Squire Millicent had 35 points to win and then Peter Bateman, Millicent counted out Brenton Pitt, Kingston on 33.
The prized Ross Orchard Trophy went to Tony Bishop and Colin Rex with the ball rundown to 30 or better and NTPs went to Ray Mathews, Alan Schultz, Brenton Pitt, and Colin Wright.
Tim Kenny owned up to an ‘airy’ and then it was noted that Darren Earl four putted the 18th joining Grant Stephenson who four putted the 9th.
The next event is at Robe on February 16, followed by Blue Lake on March 2 and then the year ends with the AGM at Mount Gambier on March 16.
