Ladies get festive on the fairways

SIXTY-two ladies were blessed with a lovely day for their Christmas Break-Up Event at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

The day was generously sponsored by The South Eastern Hotel and the competition was open to golfers and non-golfers in the form of a 4 Person Ambrose.

Lady Captain Bernie Jennings was the rulemaker for the day and the format caused lots of fun and laughs.

The winning team of Lorraine Stratford, Lorraine Bruhn, Lyn Hudson and Lois Harvey, while second place went to the team of Diann Norman, Janina Morrison, Cheryl Sims and Jenny Warburton.

Happy Wanderers, which included Cheryl Kestle, Carol Edwards, Leone McDonough and Chris Lawrence also got a prize.

The specialty prizes went to Sue Coulter for the Pro Shot; Accuracy Drive on the 3rd Hole – Golfer Janine Duke, Non-Golfer – Caroline Flood, while Long Drive on the 9th Hole went to Golfer – Leanne Hunt and Non-Golfer Nicole Burner and the Champion Putters for the day went to Golfer – Helen Heaver and Non – Golfer – Chris Nobes (in the Hole).

A very enjoyable luncheon was beautifully prepared by a few exceptional gentlemen and was very much appreciated by all.

A Fashion Parade was then held ,sponsored once again by Wendy of Redgum, with accomplished models presenting the clothing, and then followed by ‘The Bats’ with many Ladies winning prizes.

To finish off the day a skit put on by Carol Smith and ably carried out by 10 ‘Sisters’ which provided lots of laughter and beautifully ended the day’s proceedings.

Club professional John Martin will be in charge for the next six week’s of Ladies Golf with the timesheet to be used as per usual.

DECEMBER 13 RESULTS

Nineteen ladies played a stableford competition last Saturday in very good weather assisted by run on the fairways.

Bev Pedlar (Handicap 24) took out first placing with 41 points – her split being 17/24=41 Points. Her round consisted of nine three pointers and included one wipeout.

Losing on a countback with another lovely score was Jess Parsons (Handicap 19) made up of 21/20=41 points. Jess had a birdie on the 18th Hole plus eight three pointers.
