McIntosh secures victory
Sponsor Jeannette Braun, third placed Jane Lamont, second placed Sue Coulter and winner Helen McIntosh
THE popular Ham Day Stableford Competition, generously sponsored by Jeannette Braun, took place at the end of last year at the Mount Gambier Golf Club with 31 ladies participating.
The field was smaller then expected due to our first burst of summer heat with the fairways running fast but the greens running slower than anticipated.
With the clear, hot atmosphere there were some very exceptional scores with 12 players playing to their handicap or better.
First place on a countback, with a huge score of 44 points, was Helen McIntyre (Handicap 23).
Helen’s score was made up of 20/24=44 points, having four points on the 5th Hole, plus eight three pointers – she had a genuine 88 off the stick.
Unlucky to lose the countback was Sue Coulter (Handicap 27), also with a fabulous score of 44 points, made up of a split of 22/22=44 points.
Sue registered two four pointers on the 1st and 7th Par 5 Holes and parred the 16th, 17th and 18th holes to round off a great round.
Sue also had no wipe-outs and had 92 off the stick.
Jane Lamont (Handicap 42) only one point behind with 43 points, made up of 21/22=43 points.
Jane had a four pointer on the Par 3, 8th Hole plus three points each on the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th holes to give her her great score.
