Norman takes early lead

FORTY golfing ladies took to the course at the Mount Gambier Golf Club last Wednesday to participate in the 1st Round Stableford Event, sponsored by Hudson Plumbing.
The course was presented well with T Blocks and Pins set up fairly and resulted in some very good scores.
Division 1 first placegetter went to Di Norman (Handicap 22) with an exceptional score of 43 points.
Di’s round consisted of two birdies on the 8th and 18th holes, six pars and a genuine 88 off the stick.
Her split for the day was a very consistent 22/21=43 points.
Only two points behind in second place was Leanne Hunt (Handicap 11) with another very good score of 41 points.
Leanne’s split for the two nines was 23/18=41 points with two birdies on the 1st and 16th holes.
Leanne played the course to the card with 36 off the stick, a great achievement.
Division 2 winner, and not to be outdone by Division 1, Lizzie Clements (Handicap 28) also had 43 points.
Lizzie’s split for the two nines was 18/25=43 points with 44 off the stick on the Back Nine.
Lizzie obtained four points on the 11th Par 5 Hole and added another seven three pointers to her score.
Second position in Division 2 was Rosalie Hunt (Handicap 29) with 34 points, made up of split of 18/16=34 points which included three three pointers.
The lady golfers will definitely see some reductions in their handicaps before taking to the course again.
Nine balls were given out to players with good scores and went to Heather Barry 39 points down to Kathy Ewer 34 points.
Specialty prizes went to A Grade – Jess Parsons, B Grade – Vicki Clark and C Grade – Yvonne Shirley for the 2nd shot to the Pin on the Par 3, 10th Hole.
Continuing her great form Di Norman took out the NTP on the 8th, Par 3 Hole only being 45 cms from the hole.
APRIL 18 RESULTS
Great weather and fast Greens greeted 22 lady golfers to take part in the difficult Par Round at the Mount Gambier Golf Club last Saturday.
In ideal conditions and handling the course with aplomb, Trudy Johnson (Handicap 17) took the course apart with a sizzling 7 Up – Front Nine 4Up/Back Nine 3Up = 7 Up.
Trudy had eight pars in her round, her only blemish coming on the very last hole.
Trudy had a genuine 83 off the stick and her handicap will come down before taking to the course next.
Camilla Knowles (Handicap 21) took out second place with a very consistent round of Front Nine – Square, Back Nine Square = All Square to the Par Round. Camilla had five pars in her round.
Seven balls were handed out to Deb Fowler 1 Down – Helen Gregor 2 Down. NTP on the 8th went to Trudy Johnson and on the 16th Leanne Hunt.
