Oberer tops field

Division 2 third placegetter Lesley McPherson & winner Dianne Allen, Division 1 third placegetter Helen Stratford with second placed Sally Houlihan & winner Jaynee Oberer

THE second of four rounds in the RSL sponsored Summer Cup attracted 28 women at the Blue Lake Golf Club, vying for points in a bid to have their name added to the treasured trophy.

For this round the format was stableford and the winner in Division One was Jaynee Oberer after forcing a countback with Sally Houlihan both signing for 37 points.

Oberer played off a 29 handicap and scored consistently on both nines with three three pointers on the outward nine on her 19 points and a fine four point par on the 10th along with a three point par on the 15th included in the inward 18 points.

Houlihan played off 22 and scored four three pointers, one a par on the second, in her outward nine 22 points and two three pointers, one a par on the 15th hole, in her inward 15 points.

Third on the podium was Helen Stratford signing for 35 points off her 21 handicap with splits of 18/17 that Included five three pointers, two of which were pars on the 2nd and 15th holes.

Dianne Allen was the winner in Division Two posting 35 points off her 43 handicap.

In her splits of 20/15 there were four three-pointers and a four-point par on the 5th hole, unfortunately a couple of wipes on the inward nine marred an otherwise good scorecard.

Runner up was Kristy Janeway posting 34 points off her 35 handicap but had to wait on a countback with a three way tie from Lesley McPherson and Trudy-Anne Doyle before taking the second place voucher.

Janeway had too much red ink on her outward nine only scoring 11 points but came home strongly with 23 points on the inward nine after a five point birdie on the 14th and a four point par on the 15th along with three pointers on the 16th and 18th holes.

McPherson off her 32 handicap also 34 points, took third spot doing her best scoring on the inward nine with 20 points that Included four point pars on the 12th and 16th holes and a three pointer after a low 14 points on the outward nine.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot winners were Helen Stratford (2.65) and Kristy Janeway (birdie two in the hole).

Pro shot winner was Vivienne Wilson (3.34) and chip-in ferrets were recorded by Wilson 6th, Janine Dunn 7th, Trudy-Anne Doyle 8th, McPherson 13th, Joanne Powel 13th.

FEBRUARY 7 RESULTS

Fine weather saw 32 women tee up for the single stroke competition and it was Mandy Bartholomew 99/28/71 reaping the reward of determination to keep reducing her handicap that has been happening on a regular basis.

Her consistent splits of 49/50 included a par on the 14th.

Another of the ‘younger brigade’ Renae McQuade is also making good progress reducing her handicap recording 108/36/72, one over the 71 rating.

Her splits of 58/50 included pars on the 1st and 12th holes. T

hird prize winner was Josie Ashby 93/21/72 after a countback with McQuade, her scorecard showed a par on the 15th in her splits of 48/45.

There were seven in the ball rundown from Wendy Burley nett 74 down to Collen Tilley nett 76.

Dianne Perryman scored a birdie on the 5th and won the least putts prize.
