Pocket rocket signs deal
THE OneFortyOne Pioneers have continued their commitment to developing local talent with Poppy Venn returning to the Pioneers roster for the 2026 NBL1 South season.
Venn, a product of the Millicent Basketball Association, has progressed through the Pioneers pathway as a development player and has gained valuable experience within the Pioneers NBL1 program.
During her time in the development program, Poppy has continued to build her game through local and regional competitions, playing in the Victorian Country Basketball League in the summer and SECBL competitions.
Venn’s addition to the Pioneers roster reflects the commitment and hard work that Poppy continues to put into her game.
OneFortyOne Pioneers Women head coach Matt Sutton said Venn had earned the opportunity after her continued growth within the program.
“Poppy is a knock down shooter and has a real knack for scoring the ball,” Sutton said. “She has been working hard on the back of a strong CBL campaign with Millicent.”
Venn said she was excited for the opportunity to represent the Pioneers and continue developing her game within the NBL1 program.
“I am super excited to be a part of the Pioneers squad again this year.
“It not only gives me the opportunity to compete and train at a high level but also to grow not only as an individual but also as a teammate.
“I’m looking forward to successful season with great coaching staff and a talented playing group.”
