FIFTY-ONE players braved the rainy forecast and played the Blue Lake course which is in top shape with slick greens as part of the South East Golf Veterans event program.

The rain came after lunch but they all pressed on and some good scores were had.

First Division was taken out by Kingston’s Brian Prosser with 38 points. Tim Kenny, Mt Gambier had 37 for 2nd and Billy Mullan, Beachport, counted out a couple of others with a 36.

Brian’s last hole of the day produced a remarkable and rare eagle, a two on the 12th. He gets a special trophy to keep on the mantlepiece from the vets for this achievement.

In Division Two it was a local, Kenny Milsop 38, from Doug MacPherson, also Blue Lake, counting out Eben Beukes, Mt Gambier on 36.

The NTPs went to Peppi Pace and and Tim Kenny. The Ross Orchard Prize went to Steven Forsyth and Ken Clarke and the ball rundown was to 31 or better.

The next game is at the top of the district at Bordertown on November 24 and then heading back down south at Port MacDonnell on December 8.

A number of Keith players have expressed interest in joining our group, even if the travel south can sometimes be inconvenient.

The neighbouring Glenelg District group also often join the South East players and so some Keith players would be most welcome.
