THE Millicent Bowls Club held their annual bowls day raising funds to assist the Royal Flying Doctors Service earlier this month.

The RFDS is a critical service with Millicent locals having already utilised the RFDS option 26 times this year.

The competition this year was well attended with 74 players taking part in the game including night bowlers and Millicent’s regular bowlers.

The format consisted of one game of 12 ends due to the very cold conditions.

The total amount raised for the day was $2105 with Millicent Flying Doctor Group president Angus MacDonald accepting the funds from Millicent Bowls Club vice president Peter Hyland.

One of the systems that is used to raise money is the wrong bias tin where a bowler, if they roll their bowl to the jack on the wrong bias.

The player is expected to put a gold coin in the tin and ring the Wrong Bias Bell in the club room. T

his fund raiser this year has raised a total of $900.

The winning team for the day was Pat Sullivan, Keith Fletcher, Bill Chapman and Des King with a score of 30+28.

Runners up were Chris Earl, Scott Lonergan, Terry Lonergan and Bob Reilly with a score of 29+16.
