Men's veteran singles champion Terry Seiler

THE Port MacDonnell Bowling Club held its Veteran Singles on March 8 with Heather Richards and Terry Seiler taking the titles.

In the Ladies there were four nominations with Heather Richards defeating Lyn Vanderley and Carol Schmidt defeating Nell Lucas.

Heather and Carol then went head-to-head in a fight for the championship.

It was a very close game and scores were all even on 13 on the 17th end then again on the 18th end of 18 all.

Both ladies produced a wonderful display of bowls but in the end it was Heather Richards (pictured above left) winning the next two ends to win 22 -19.

In the Men’s Veteran Singles Championships there were 11 nominations with Terry Seiler winning against Dave Beaman , John Naismith and Geoff James to reach the grand final match and Graham Lucas with a bye in the first round, then defeated Bruce Bavin and Philip Wilson to challenge Terry in the final.

Again, it was a very close start with players winning shots fairly evenly being all square on 7 at the 6th and 9 each at the 8th end, with Terry settling in and winning the next four ends for the score to be 17 -9 but never to be counted out Graham winning the next three ends for the scores to be 17-13, both players bowling very well but then Terry (pictured above right) scored a four to take the Veteran Singles Championship 21-13.
