Rowe & Bateman win final event for year

THE SE Golf Veterans season came to a close at Millicent with a field of 84 players.

It included six vets from the Glenelg district who enjoyed the day.

The new SE Golf Veterans season starts on January 19.

The Division 1 winner was Grant Rowe, Millicent 42 points, from Kingston’s Milan Hodak counting out local Craig Talbot, both on 35.

In Division 2 it was another local, Peter Bateman with 40 points, from Port MacDonnell’s Peter Ewer on 37 and Robe’s Tony Wilson 36.

NTPs were Shane MacPherson, Peter Ballard, and Murray Frost. The Ross Orchard trophy went to Beachport’s Sid Arkun and Penola’s Bill Cheers.

It was noted that a well known retired Millicent accountant had an ‘airy’, but then was reluctant to announce it in the clubhouse, while a long time member played Santa and gave every player a ball for Christmas.
