Back-to-back ladies singles champion Lyn Scudds

LAST weekend, the Millicent Bowls Club held their Annual Men’s and Ladies Singles Championship.

The men’s format was the first to reach 21 shots won the game and in the grand final it was the first to reach 25 shots.

All games started at 8.30am and due to some players having to play in State events the games continued to the grand final, which was completed by 8pm.

The men’s final was contested between Glen Jones and Paul Williamson.

At the 7th end Glen Jones was up by one shot, then by the 15th end Paul had taken the lead by three shots with the score sitting at 15 to 12.

By end 21, Paul was able score three shots taking the score to Paul 22, Glen 16.

Glen was then able to score one shot taking him to 17 shots to Paul 22.

Paul then scored another three shots to take him to 25 shots thus giving him the title of Men’s Champion Singles played for 2025/26 Season.

The ladies, also held their Singles Championship the day after the men’s and winning their way into the grand final saw reigning champion Lyn Scudds going up against Joy Warren.

By the 11th end, the score sat at Lyn Scudds nine shots to Joy Warren six shots but although the standard of bowls was very high Lyn continued on to win the game and become back to back Ladies Singles Champion.
