Simson’s consistency wins the day
THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition on March 14 in fine and sunny conditions, the dedicated shooters arrived early for some practice on the difficult double rise competition and shoot offs were needed in all events to ascertain the winners.
The opening event was the Barry Maney Group 25 Pair Club Double Rise Championship and Don Pratt 42/50 won overall and AA, Gavin Height 46/60 claimed A Grade from Max Medhurst 54/70, Dougal Simson 41/50 just won B from Andrew Hoare 39/50, whilst Andrew McKinnon 36/50 just edged out Andrew Jenkins 38/60 to win C.
The South East Vets 15 Tgt Medley was up next with Warren Lindner showing his skills with the only perfect 25/25, winning AA from Dougal Simson 24/25, Max Medhurst 24/25 claimed A grade from Steven Chambers 31/35, Andrew Aldersey 23/25 just edged out John McIntyre 22/25 to win B grade and Frank Kentish 22/25 in fine form won C grade from Harry Simson 21/25.
The Nutrien Ag 50Tgt Eastern Zone Handicap finished the competitions of the day and with shoot offs needed again as Andrew Hoare 47/50 won first place honors from Dougal Simson 46/50.
After a shoot off Darren Murrell 51/56 took third place from Mick Little 50/56 and after another shoot off Don Pratt 46/52 took out 5th place.
The South East Autotrade Highgun award over the three events was won by the top shot Dougal Simson with a credible score of 111/125.
The Club has practice every Friday afternoon and the next competition being Compak Sporting Clays will be held on March 29.
