Summer Salver wraps up

FINE but cool weather saw 43 lady golfers front up to compete in the 3rd and Final Round of the Summer Salver at Mount Gambier Golf Club, generously sponsored by Gloria Lennon and Rosalie Hunt.

In Division 1 Jennifer Van Rijthoven (Handicap 12) had a great score of 43 points, made up of a split of 21/22=43 points.

Jennifer played very consistent golf parring holes from the 4th to the 10th Hole – 7 consecutive pars and had a genuine 78 off the stick.

Second placing in Division 1 was often mentioned president Jan Shanahan (Handicap 16) with 39 points, made up of 17/22-39 points with two four pointers gained on the 1st and 15th Hole and had 84 off the stick.

With another great score in Division 2, Deb Fowler (Handicap 29) had 41 points, consisting of 18/23=41 points.

Deb obtained four points with a birdie on the Par 3, 16th Hole, plus seven three pointers to add to her nice score.

Second placing in Division 2 went to Rosalie Hunt (Handicap 28) only 1 point behind with 40 points – 17/23=40 points.

Rosalie parred the 12th Hole and registered four points, plus another six three pointers, made up her very good score.

Sixteen ladies played to their handicaps or better, an indication that summer golf is a lot easier than wintry conditions.

Ten balls were given out to Jane Lamont 39 points down to Helen Heaver 36 points on a countback.

The Novelty prizes went to: Pro Shot, 8th Par 3 Hole – Sue McPherson (with an almost unbeatable shot), 2nd Shot to the Par 3, 10th Hole – A Grade Janina Morrision, B Grade Kate McCormick and C Grade Deb Fowler.

FEBRUARY 14 RESULTS

Twenty-six ladies played a stableford event last Saturday in fine weather.

Jennifer Van Rijthoven (Handcap 11) is continuing her fine form from last Wednesday and carded two birdies on the 2nd and 6th Holes plus 6 three pointers giving her 79 off the stick.

Second placing went to Camilla Knowles (Handicap 23) with a very consistent round of golf – 20/20=40 points.

Camilla gained four points for her birdie on the 8th Hole and another four points for Parring the difficult 14th Hole.

Eight balls for their score went to Heather Barry, Helen Heaver, Carol Davis, Kathy Ewer, Yvonne Shirley, Leanne Hunt, Bev Pedlar and Jan Shanahan.
