Surprisingly good scores in wild conditions

The 10 brave finishers in the stableford competition in trying weather conditions.

IN what could be described as silly or brave, 10 of the 19 starters finished their round in very hazardous weather conditions last Wednesday at the Blue Lake Golf Club.

The wind gusts were at times up to 80km with a few misty showers to add to the challenge.

Surprisingly a couple of scores recorded were very good considering and the winner in Division One Dianne Perryman played to her handicap of 24 posting 36 points.

In her outward 17 points there was a par three-pointer on the 2nd along with a four-point par on the 3rd.

In her inward 19 points there was three-point pars on the 14th and 15th holes.

Runner up was Josie Ashby with 30 points off her 23 handicap and in her outward 16 points it started with a par three-pointer on the 1st finishing with 14 points that included three-pointers on the 11th and 18th holes.

Annette Ford was third after a countback with Helen Stratford both signing for 28 points, followed by Karen Panagopoulos 27 points.

Lee Anderson was the winner of Division Two posting 33 points off her 41 handicap with splits of 17/16 that included a four-pointer on the 6th and three-pointers on the 10th and 14th holes.

Lyn Annand was runner-up signing for 32 points off her 37 handicap with two three-pointers and one four-pointer in her splits of 18/14 followed by Lynda Nannings 23 points, Trudy-Anne Doyle 22 and Bev Pascoe 22.

Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on the 14th winners were Perryman (1.10) and Annand. Pro-shot winner on the 5th was Vivienne Wilson (4.12).

Nannings scored a birdie from a chip-in ferret on the 2nd and Annand a chip-in ferret on the 8th.OCTOBER 18 RESULTS

The weather was exceptional, little wind and sunshine, a complete contrast to Wednesday, as 19 women played in the stroke round.

The winners scores were of a great standard especially the winner posting an awesome nett 66, five strokes under her 34 handicap.

Pars on the 14th and 15th holes were included in her splits of 52/48.

Vivienne Wilson used her handicap of 36 wisely to also break said handicap signing for nett 67.

The 103 off the stick with splits of 54/49 included a par on the long par five 17th hole with good scoring on every other hole, she did have to wait on a countback from Josie Ashby before collecting the 2nd place voucher.

Ashby 91/24/67 also under her handicap had two consistent nines 45/46 that included pars on the 2nd, 5th and 15th.

Other placegetters were Lynn Annand 107/37/70, Helen Stratford 95/24/71 c/b Trudy Herbert 104/33/71.

Rosemary Martland had the long drive and Josie Ashby the least putts.
