LAST Wednesday a large field of 47 lady golfers tee off for the 2nd Round of the Summer Salver at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

The weather was perfect which facilitated 14 ladies once again playing to their handicap or better.

Division 2 players had the most points for the day with Sue McPherson (handicap 38) leading the way with a great score of 42 points.

Sue’s split was 18/24=42 points and consisted of a four pointer on the difficult 14th Hole, plus eight three pointers.

Often mentioned in last year’s results and continuing on this year, Jill Johnson (handicap 33) had a very consistent score of 20 points front nine and 20 back nine=40 points.

Jill’s highlight for the day was a birdie on the 17th, Par 5 Hole giving her a very rare five points.

Jill had a genuine 102 off the stick.

In Division 1 long time member Di O’Donnell (handicap 21) took out first place with very consistent golf 20/20=40 points.

Di recorded four points on the 11th, Par 5 Hole, plus five more three pointers to register 4 under her Handicap.

Runner up to Di in Division 1 was Denise Harvey (handicap 19) only one point behind with 39 points.

Denise’s split for the 18 holes was 19/20=39 points and included eight three pointers.

Twelve balls were handed out for good scores recorded and went to Libby Altschwager 38 points down to Deb Sheather 37 points.

The Pro Shot , Par 3, Hole was won once again by Jan Shanahan who is becoming a specialist for this hole.

The novelty prize this week was ‘Most Fairways Hit’ and was won on a countback by Lizzie Clements (13 fairways).

FEBRUARY 7 RESULTS

The 29 ladies that took to the Mount Gambier Golf Club enjoyed great weather with a lot of run on the fairways.

Making the most of the conditions Sharran Waters (Handicap 29) took out first place with 47/52=99=Nett 70.

Sharran played consistent golf and had pars on the 1st, 2nd and 16th Holes which assisted her winning score .

In second placing Bev Pedlar (Handicap 21) had a very good front nine with 42 off the stick and fell away on the back nine with 50 – a 7 on the Par 3, 16th Hole didn’t help.

Bev had birdies on the 3rd and 17th holes totalling 92 off the stick.

Ten balls were handed out ranging from Kathy Ewer Nett 72 down to Sue McPherson Nett 78.

NTPS on the 8th Hole Jennifer Van Rijthoven and on the 16th Sharran Waters.
