THIRTY-THREE ladies teed off last Wednesday at the Mount Gambier Golf Club to play in a stableford event.

The weather conditions were cold and the atmosphere heavy, thus making good scoring hard to achieve.

Making light work of the playing conditions in Division 2 Gail Watson (Handicap 42) easily recorded a great score of 3 under her handicap with 39 points (19/20=39 points).

Gail’s consistency was her strength with two four pointers on the 2nd and 14th holes, plus another six three pointers to add to her great score.

In second placing in Division 2 was Vicki Clark (Handicap 27) with an outstanding front nine of 24 points, together with 13 points on the back nine = 37 Points.

On the front nine Vicki had two four pointers and four three pointers.

Division 1 went to Jennifer Van Rijthoven (Handicap 13) with 15/18 points = 33 points.

Parring the last three holes Jennifer’s only blemish was on the 13th hole and she played the other eight holes to her handicap.

Second placing, unlucky to lose the countback, was Rab Headlam (Handicap 21) with 16/17=33 points.

Due to her blemish on the 11th hole Rab lost the countback, however, she recorded three three pointers on her card.

The Pro Shot on the Par 3, 8th hole was won by Di O’Donnell.

Six balls were handed out in the ball rundown and went to Lyndal McInerney, Heather Teakle, Sharyn Emetlis, Mary Kentish, Yvonne Shirley and Lyn Hudson.

Mardi Goodes (Handicap 23) still in her ‘purple patch’ won the day taking out first position with 36 points – 17/19=36 points.

Winning on a countback was due to her great par on the long, difficult 14th Par 4 Hole earning herself four points.

Club stalwart Heather Chapman (Handicap 35) took out second place with 36 points – made up of a split of 20/16 = 36 points.

Heather registered a Birdie 3 on the last hole of the day earning herself four points.
