“A lifetime goal”: Considine qualifies for 2023 World Longboard Tour

TORQUAY surfer Ben Considine said he is “beyond stoked” to secure a seasonal wildcard onto the World Longboard Tour for 2023.

For the first time in his career, Considine is guaranteed a spot in all four stops of the 2023 World Longboard Tour, the first of which kicks off at Huntington Beach in California on July 29.

Considine, who found out yesterday about the announcement, said reading the letter from the World Surf League still felt surreal.

“I’m absolutely blown away.

“It’s been a lifetime goal of mine to qualify for the World Longboard Tour and to be given an opportunity is just crazy.

“I’ve been working so hard for this, particularly over the last few years.

“I’m so excited to give it a go and compete against the world’s best.”

Considine secured his seasonal wildcard through his elite performance in the WSL Longboard Qualifying Series events in Australia.

Considine surfed to the podium in the Manly Longboard Classic and secured a semi-final finish at the Noosa Longboard Pro.

The 26-year-old is the reigning Australian Open Men’s Logger and Victorian Open Men’s Logger champion.

Considine said getting the seasonal wildcard has been made even more special knowing that Bells Beach will be one of the four events that he’ll compete in.

“After Huntington Beach, we’ve got the first ever WSL World Longboard Tour event at Bells Beach which is super exciting.

“It’s really special to know I’ll be competing here at my home ground with all my friends and family around.

“I honestly can’t believe it’s happening and I can’t wait to give it a go.”
