IT’S finals time! With the completion of the regular season, it’s time to reflect on a wonderful year of bowls on and off the rink for the Torquay Bowls Club.

Let’s see where all our teams finished the season for 2017-18, and who won this year’s Crameri Medal.

Midweek Pennant
Our Division One team made the finals finishing 3rd on the ladder. Divisions 2 & 5 were just outside of the finals games, both ending in 6th position, while Division 6 finished 7th.

Division 1 played their Elimination final on 27th February, but went down to Highton with 17 shots overall to end a very successful season.

Well done everyone on a great season.

Saturday Pennant
The Torquay Bowls Club has four of its seven teams in the finals for Saturday pennant with divisions 1, 4, 9 and 11 all playing in the post season.

Having so many teams in the finals is a wonderful achievement for the club, and shows how the Torquay Bowls Club has gone from strength to strength in recent years.

The following is a list of where all divisions finished the season:

Div 1: 3rd, Div 2: 10th, Div 4: 4th, Div 6: 6th, Div 8: 5th, Div 9: 4th, Div 11: 4th

Well done everyone on a great season.

Crameri Medal
The Lou Crameri Medal is a prestigious award given to the most consistent pennant bowler at the completion of each season.

This year’s winner was Gary Banks with 359 votes, with Alan Sampson coming runner up on 353 in a tightly contested affair.

Gary and Alan both had fantastic seasons and should be very proud of how they bowled and represent the club throughout the year. Well Done.

Bistro on the Green
Even though the bowls component of the club is finishing up for season 2017-18, Bistro on the Green is still open for business. Come in for dinner, lunch or just for a coffee on the deck and take in one of the best views on the Surf Coast.

Until next time, good bowling!
